WINTER WONDERLAND TURNS INTO A NIGHTMARE IN THE DMV
(The Slice): A Winter storm in the DMV wreaked havoc on some residents, causing thousand to brave the cold without power. Those outages, school closures and shuttered COVID-19 testing sites resulted from a big snow storm on Monday, that turned into a nightmare for hundreds of motorists stranded on Virginia's I-95 all day. The biggest snowfall since the blizzard of 2016 deposited 9-12 inches of snow in the DMV. On Tuesday the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) shut down the interstate in both directions near Fredericksburg. That's from exit 152 (Dumfries Road) to exit 104 (Carmel Church). Drivers were urged to avoid the interstate until lanes reopen and congestion has cleared.
