ABORTION, THE PERSONAL CHOICE: Black woman cites abusive relationship and future goals

(TSN): For Democrats, at the core of the abortion fight in America is the simple idea that the government should not be involved in the personal choices a woman makes about her own body. It is an invasion of privacy to restrict access to abortion for women who may need it for medical reasons or other reasons that are just as sound. Sometimes making personal statements publicly appeals to people in a way that endears compassion. That was the result of remarks at Howard University on Tuesday as alum, Brittany House shared her abortion with thousands of students at the Reproductive Freedom event.she told them she was 21 and in abusive relationship when sheb pregnant in college.The thought of sharing a child with a man who hurt her was dreadful. Men and women lined up to tell her house her story and passion for women's rights moved them.

The Slice News spoke to House about her perspective on abortion and what gave her the courage to be transparent about the experience. "Knowing that my story can affect someone else. Knowing that my story can affect change," is why House said she made the brave confession.

Making the best choice for her life enable House to pursue her educational and career endeavors, which she said qoukd nit have happened if she kept the child.
